
The Space Needle is an observation tower in Seattle, Washington. In 1999, it was designated a historic landmark. This Seattle icon was built in the Seattle Center for the 1962 World’s Fair, which drew over 2.3 million visitors. Nearly 20,000 people a day used its elevators throughout that event.
As one of the tallest structures west of the Mississippi River, the Space Needle has an observation deck and a rotating restaurant 500 ft up in the sky. Tourists and locals alike flock to the Space Needle each day where they take in spectacular views of the downtown Seattle skyline, as well as the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay and surrounding islands. The SkyCity Restaurant inside the Needle features Pacific Northwest cuisine as well as a rotating panoramic view. It rotates 360 degrees in exactly forty-seven minutes.

Observation Deck

From 500 feet up, you can see forever. Specifically a 360 degree panoramic view of the Emerald City, snow-topped, mountain peaks and Elliott Bay’s shimmering waterfront. Mount Rainier is an ever-present sight for sore eyes. These are some of the wonders you will experience from the Observation Deck atop Seattle’s iconic Space Needle. You can buy tickets to go up to the Observation Deck at the bottom of the Needle. They are open Monday through Sunday, from 10:00am to 9:30pm.

The seating at SkyCity Restaurant is arranged to provide every table with an unobstructed view of the Seattle metropolitan area. The restaurant is considered fine dining, with a casual dress code. They serve a Pacific Northwest cuisine, featuring delicious local seafood, chicken and steak, and, of course, there is also a vegetarian menu.

Located at the base of the Seattle icon, the Space Needle’s valet parking service is very convenient. At about the same price as many of the area parking lots, it is also surprisingly affordable.
